The Rally Hosts Brian Brawdy and the SRMR

I am very excited to be heading to The Rally in Louisville, Kentucky later this month. The 4 day show from July 22-25 is the place to be for all things RV’ing. Modern day nomads from across North America converge for one big blast. The SRMR or Self Reliant Mobile Residence will not only be on display at the main entrance, I will be broadcasting live for the launch of The Brian Brawdy Show.

RV’ing epitomizes my belief in suRVival through self reliance. I have designed the SRMR as a dual purpose vehicle, for both sojourning and surviving should an emergency arrive. I can think of no better platform for the new show than a “Just in Case Place” built to not only travel but broadcast “off road and off the grid.” Using the technologies from Lance, My Solar Backup and Katadyn, (companies it is my pleasure to represent) I am able to survive and thrive comfortably.

If you are heading to The Rally, please stop over and be a part of the Show.

How To Become a Political Survival Expert

Shortly after my Father took his own life in the mid ’80s, I decided to leave law enforcement and go my own way. Since that day, I spent a great deal of time in “the wilderness” trying, amongst other things, to square my mind with his actions. Along the way, I learned to survive in those wild places out of necessity. The need to find shelter, food and water all the while compelled to navigate in unfamiliar surroundings and to survive whatever Mother Nature would throw my way became a passion of mine. Truth be told, I’m a bit of a gear freak as well. Soon, the term “wilderness survival expert” attached.

Admittedly, there are survival skills that are helpful out in the middle of nowhere; I subsequently came to understand however that those same skills worked in urban areas and scenarios (hurricane Katrina jumps to mind)  as well. Survival, I grew to understand, is a mindset. Wherever you find yourself, the skills to survive are as much mental as they are mechanical, as much of temperament as technology. I came to believe that survival is a part of our inherent Buried Logic.

Jump forward to today. Of late, I’ve a realization that I never saw coming; NEVER. Like most impromptu scenarios, they come at the corners of our eye. I never thought I would have to learn how to survive politics, politicians and their overall power grab. Wilderness survival, yes! Wall Street and Washington D.C., no!

Naive, on my part, you bet!

I realize now that our Constitution and the Government it provides us has been nearly hijacked by politicians, political parties, special interest groups, some media outlets and those lawmakers that never saw a situation they didn’t want to legislate themselves out of or in to. Government, is by its nature is a service organization. Most politicians and political parties today are about sustaining power, not public service.

Thankfully, survival and liberty are closely approximated. Navigating Nature or an encroaching political class, regardless of party affiliation, requires the same skill set. You square your shoulders, survey the situation and take action. Survival is your responsibility.

It’s time. I’m trading my backpack for a briefcase and a laptop. I have decide to turn my efforts into political survival and highlighting the skill sets needed for you and I to survive and thrive while confronted with our fading list of freedoms. To that end, I am putting the final touches on The Brian Brawdy Show, my upcoming book Survivalnomics and continuing the blog at BrianBrawdy.com.

The Radio/Video Show will highlight breaking news, commentary and techniques for surviving and thriving in the 21st Century. Brian’s Bottom Line will kick off the show with thought provoking attitude about the daily headlines. Guest interviews, political analysis, Lowlifes Making Headlines and Return To Vendor polls along with the Daily Gullibility Monitor and Worthy/Worthless news of the day will round out the broadcast. The overall goal is to create Political Survival Experts of its listeners and viewers.

The Brian Brawdy Show will be broadcast via satellite from the SRMR, or Self-Reliant Mobile Residence and will initially be web based and housed at LiveStream while the audio will be available via BrianBrawdy.com and iTunes. MauroMedia will be handling the technical aspects and helping me with the creative as well. I am currently negotiating with a national publisher and should have some details shortly on Survivalnomics.

I would love your input, show suggestions and critiques….Please feel free and totally encouraged to comment at

On Tax Day I’m Heading for My Version of a T-Party

I don’t need to tell you what today is, at least for those of us living in the United States. Perhaps, next to your birthday and New Years Eve, April 15th stands indelibly in American minds.  It’s time to square up with Uncle Sam.

Now that my taxes are in the mail, I figured that there is no better time to talk about the Tea Party, or better yet, my version of a T-Party. I’m headed to the Mid Atlantic Truck Camper Rally in Sanford, Virginia.

Truck camping, or T-partying is one of my favorite ways to explore. My first exploration of Denali National Park in Alaska was in a fully stocked Lance truck camper. I spent 10 days adventuring in one of the coolest places on earth with my good friend and renowned photographer/videographer Michael Mauro.

From that moment on I was hooked. Unlike other forms of RV’ing, T-Partying allows me to get off the road and off the beaten path. To me, that’s what exploration is all about.

If you are new to the idea, check out Truck Camper Magazine for some great insight into T-Partying. If you’re in the area this weekend, swing over. If not…..

Brian Brawdy and The Green RV now equipped with TORKLIFT

There are those companies that just plain get it: great people, great passion, great products, designed and manufactured here in the United States to be the very best there is, all the while backed by a Lifetime Guarantee.

TORKLIFT International in Kent, Washington is one of those companies.

Jay, Brian & Jack

My goal in visiting TORKLIFT was to make The Green RV, my Lance Camper, more stable and secure. Soon I will be towing my Lance Base Station (Lance 2285 Trailer…stay tuned for details!) and needed to fashion a truly solid, unwavering system for both.

To secure my Lance Camper fully, I needed a frame mount system whose turnbuckles were 100% Stainless Steel, 100% tool-free and 100% lockable. FastGuns are precision-made from High-Impact Powder-Coated Stainless-Steel, comes Spring Loaded and includes Spring Tension Indicators all in addition to a Lifetime Guarantee.

I then turned my attention to towing. The SuperHitch Magnum along with the Supertruss Receiver Extension fills the bill in a formidable way. It is a class 5 hitch rated up to 20,000 lbs with weight distribution.  It also utilizes a 2.5 x 2.5” top and 2 x 2″ bottom dual receiver and hardened, reinforced hitch pin locations.  Supertruss extensions come in 8 lengths, from 21”-60”, so whatever your configuration, they’ve got you covered.

All Torklift products carry an industry exclusive lifetime warranty.

BuckStop and Warn latest makeover for Green RV

The Green RV, my Mobile Base Camp is approaching it’s 100,000 mile celebration! As a part of the party, I wanted to increase the fashion and functionality of my front bumper so I turned to the guys at BuckStop Truckware to design my heavy duty winch bumper. As good as it looks, it greatly adds to my safety on the open road.

I can’t tell you the number of times, over the last 19 months that my adventures have kept me pushing it, early in the morning and late at night. In addition to vehicles big and small, I have shared the road with numerous dear, elk, moose and even a roadside black bear. Driving at dawn and dusk can be a full contact sport in some parts of our country. With animal/vehicle accidents on the rise my leading edge of defense, a huge part of my safety plan is a bumper that can handle the impact. For those times when swerving isn’t safe, your bumper can make all the difference. I love the tag line at BuckStop, “The Best Bang for the Buck.”

The BuckStop Truckware Classic II is rugged beauty with a grill/brush guard, fully-enclosed winch area accessible through an included access door along with a 2″ trailer receiver that will get plenty of use.

I upgraded (in a huge way) to a Warn 16.5ti heavy-weight series Thermometric winch for it’s smooth, quiet and amazing power. One look is all it took. I can’t find a better setup.

Brian Brawdy visits the PressurePro Family

I really enjoyed my time with Phil, Vanessa, Rita & Doug at PressurePro last week. That their products are manufactured here in the United States is just one part of the story. The entire team brings a passion to operating your vehicle with proper tire pressure. Phil, the head of this family owned business is the type of guy you meet, and 5 minutes later feel like you’ve known a lifetime.

It was also an educational trip. To learn about the myriad benefits of a PressurePro system including economical, environmental and safety was truly eye opening.

Learn more and see photos of my afternoon at PressurePro in Harrisonville, Missouri.
