Fox News and Megyn Kelly, not to mention Trace Gallagher, owe their viewers an apology. OK…let’s wait together. Hmm, Hmm, Hmm, Hmm, Hmm. Megyn? Hello? Apology please. Still waiting….Can someone get Roger Ailes on the phone?
While reporting on the the Philadelphia voter intimidation case, Megyn, Trace and a hand full of undisclosed producers at Fox News teased a video of the New Black Panthers Samir Shabaz just before a commercial. You know SS. The guy with the club standing outside the voting booths in Philly that sparked the current DOJ case. When the show returned and Megyn tossed it to Trace Gallagher, he claims the video “too incendiary” to air. What? “We report. You decide.” Huh? What?
FOX NEWS: We redact. You decide.
Megyn, Megyn, Megyn. Show us. Don’t shield us.
Now, true, the video is an angry, verbally-violent and racist rant by Mr. Shabaz. As a “cracker” not an easy clip to sit through. That this type of racial anger still exists is truly sad and unfortunate. The only thing more disappointing is the decision by Fox News to “protect us” from news that they perceive to be “too incendiary.”
FOX bleeped out the vulgarity during the first airing; OK. If FOX wants to air a warning, a disclaimer prior to the video, OK as well. But to tease the video and then chicken out during the commercial break is not what we need.
Today, some news is “incendiary.” Here’s the thing, though. That news is combustible makes it worthy of broadcast. News, albeit too hot to handle, should not be too hot to report. In the end it’s the only news we can use; why shield us from the news we need to see? Reporting the truth, as despicable and explosive as it can be, is the only news that stands a chance of making a difference in our world.
“Brian, Brian, Brian why let truth taint the process?”
I’ve found a great piece of RV gear that helped me get many sound nights of sleep since its installation. The Smart Light 1000 is a motion detector, a battery monitoring system, a way to employ LED’s to dramatically reduce your lighting power draw and one of the newest additions to the Green RV.
One of the necessities of Green RVing, boondocking & dry camping is the ability to generate power. By tapping into the free and ubiquitous energies of the sun, I’m able to go off road, off the grid while staying out longer.
In this video, I look at the cutting edge technology of the PowerSource 1800. A uniquely designed solar powered generator.
It has been my goal to travel North America discovering wild places, down the open road and off the beaten path, all the while reporting on breaking news, commentary and techniques for surviving and thriving in the 21st Century. An importing part of that adventure is my Mobile Base Camp, a Lance Truck Camper powered by the natural energies of the sun, wind and rain.
An additional component in reporting my explorations and interviews falls into the category of both the BuriedLogic Audio blog posts and the BuriedLogic Podcasts. Thanks to the technology from the satellite experts MotoSatAdvanced Mobile Satellite Systems I am now able to do so from anywhere I go. The new F2 DataStorm from MotoSat was installed on The Mobile Base Camp yesterday at their facilities in Salt Lake City.
Keith McCord from KSL TV 5 here in Salt Lake stopped by to cover the installation and learn from Royal Lamb about the company, its people and the professionals that make it all happen.
During Brian’s last trip to Houston, he caught up with youth campers attending the Houston Arboretum’s summer camps. Thanks to KIAH, meet some of tomorrow’s explorers…
In this episode of Gear to Get, Brian looks into one of the most necessary, yet unexciting aspects of RVing; how to focus on dumping your black and gray water tanks in a safe and sanitary way.
Join Brian as he reviews the Smart Drain, the new sewer system by Thetford, that offers RVers a superior dumping system loaded with benefits and features…

For decades, the hunting of the gray wolf has been illegal in the United States. This year they have been delisted from the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service opening the door for hunting in the northern Rocky Mountains.
Environmental and animal rights groups are seeking an injunction in U.S. District Court in Montana to stop the hunts. Judge Donald Molloy is seeing the case, and it’s uncertain how and when he will rule. Earthjusticeattorney Doug Honnold sought an an “injunction to stall hunting in both Idaho and Montana as part of a lawsuit seeking to restore protection of the wolves under the Endangered Species Act.”
“Although the gray wolf has rebounded from virtual extinction in the region a mere twenty years ago, wolf populations in the northern Rockies are not yet stable enough to lose these critical protections” according to the Sierra Club. ”The management of the animals now falls to individual states to implement as they see fit, including hunting and aggressive agency management.”
“The population of gray wolves in the northern Rockies consists of three relatively isolated sub-populations, rather than one genetically connected group. There are approximately 1,600 individuals and 100 breeding pairs in the region. Many scientists maintain that this number is not high enough to ensure long-term population viability.” The Sierra Club Website continues, “Instead, to have a sustainable population, wolves need to number between 2,000 and 5,000 individuals in the northern Rockies. The state management plans tend to slide backwards, rather than allowing wolf populations to grow naturally. Idaho, for example, plans to allow the number to be reduced to around 100 individuals, down from approximately 900.”
Though from a different part of our country, and with an outdated script, here is a quick, timeless video, shot by videographer Michael Mauro, highlighting the Wolves of Alaska.
In reading the CNN report, Cisterns save rainwater, quench environmental thirst, I couldn’t help but think back to the early stages of developing a plan for the Green RV to harvest its own rainwater. I needed to design a cistern for a camper.
Obviously important for human, pet and crop hydration, drinkable water is as scarce a resource as any, and as such, should be a concern for us all, not just in particular regions of the country or certain times of the year.
I spent last week traveling through Texas on the second portion of my summer media tour. Having spent one day with the staff and campers of the Houston Arboretum, I headed to Austin.
With an appearance on the local ABC affiliate with the Green RV and a few summer safety tips, I had the great opportunity to hang with PJ and her staff at the local Lance dealership, Princess Craft Campers and Trailers. I want to again thank everyone who came out and spent some time with the Mobile Base Camp.
A quick detour to just outside San Antonio compliments of Bat Conservation International, I gained exclusive access to witness to explore and document the nightly emergence of upwards of 35 million bats from the Bracken Cave.
My travels then headed to Dallas where I met up with Bob from the local CW affiliate to spread the message of Conservation thru Exploration.
You can check out my route, view photos and descriptions from my journey on SpotAdventures.com.
As always, I truly enjoyed the great state of Texas.
