Political Revolt: We Have Them On The Ropes

Immediately following the “upset victory” by Scott Brown in Massachusetts, I wrote a post entitled Keeping the GOP and Dems on the Ropes. Of the many things I highlighted none, I believe, was more important than the concept of term limits. Our Constitution limits the term of the President, why not members of Congress?

It seems in primary votes yesterday, incumbents like Pennsylvania Senator Specter (soon to be Spectator Specter) are on the ropes. Though the media will call it a “voter backlash” I see it more as a shot across the bow of future political candidates.

One vote at a time we can begin to cleanse the political gene pool; to rid our government of long-term, life-long politicians. The phrase “6 term Senator” should never be uttered again. Let’s make it the oxymoron is should always have been.

We’ve never been able to achieve term limits because who in Congress would author their own short-term ticket, who would agree to surrender the power they so desperately seek? We can do it across party lines. Candidates pandering, groveling for our votes would pledge to make congressional term limits one of their top priorities.

No vow to do so, NO VOTE!

The best term limits law is the vote. Vote them out after one term and they are out. Nice work on the blog.

Thanks Bill. New format, video and audio reports/blog posts coming in early June. I would love your feedback.
